Being involved with our local community this year saw us working with Lambeth Music Service to film the Lambeth Music Festival! The festival is a great opportunity for local young musicians to showcase their work on a globally acclaimed stage at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s Southbank.
The festival celebrates the diversity of music making in our borough across 10 concerts over 6 days, performing everything from the “Mission Impossible” theme with a full orchestra, to bands of young people covering songs by the likes of Taylor Swift, Jess Glynne and Justin Bieber, to a 300 strong choir singing a medley of “Star Man” and “Over the rainbow” in tribute to local legend David Bowie.
Filming over 3,000 young people is no easy task! But the team enjoy a challenge and spent a good five days documenting the activities and seeing the young talent in Lambeth put their heart and soul into performances for their friends, family and the wider public. The Lambeth Music Service aims to engage local families and community, developing pride in culture and place, and using music as an early intervention whilst developing musical excellence in young people.
